This course covers the mechanical behavior of materials, with particular emphasis on metals. The course includes elastic behavior, plasticity, creep, fracture mechanics and fatigue crack propagation. The approach of every lesson is threefold: phenomenological (basic description of the phenomenon), structural (application of the theoretical concepts to structural problems) and microstructural (description of the phenomenon using a bottom-up approach). The course is designed for students of civil, industrial, mechanical or aeronautical engineering.

    Keywords

Mechanical Behaviour, Elasticity, Plasticity, Creep, Fracture Mechanics, Fatigue, Strength, Metallic Alloys, Relaxation, Crack Propagation, Stress Intensity Factor, Fracture Toughness, Crack Propagation.
