Marcos Fernández-Gutiérrez is Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Cantabria. He has a BA in Economics from the University of Cantabria, a MA in Public Policy from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra-The Johns Hopkins University and a PhD from the University of Cantabria. He has also been Visiting Research Fellow at Universidad de Barcelona (Spain), Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy), University of Exeter (UK), Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and Bangor University (UK).

His research interests are public services regulation and the influence of socio-economic characteristics on the use of public services. He has published his research in journals as Public Administration Review, Regional Studies, Regulation&Governance, International Review of Administrative Sciences, Journal of Economic Policy Reform and Journal of Regulatory Economics, among others. At present, he participates in a research project funded by the European program H2020, as well as in a Jean Monnet Chair funded by program Erasmus + (which includes the subject International Business Economics).
