    La asignatura “Cismas y Fronteras entre Occidente y Oriente en el Mundo Antiguo” se propone reconstruir el progresivo proceso de diferenciación entre las dos Partes del Imperio Romano, en el cuadro geopolítico de la Cristiandad tardo-antigua y dentro de límites cronológicos que abarcan desde la edad constantiniana hasta el  pontificado de León Magno, mostrando a los alumnos/as como la paulatina división entre Oriente y Occidente dio lugar, entre los siglos IV y V, en áreas distintas del mundo tardo-antiguo, a sistemas religiosos plurales desde el punto de vista étno-lingüístico (latinos, griegos, medio orientales), de la organización jurisdiccional, de las opciones doctrinales, y de los mecanismos de relación con el poder político.

    Su objetivo último es evidenciar el conjunto de las relaciones político-eclesiásticas, religioso-culturales y diplomático-institucionales implícitas en la circulación de ideas y hombres en el Mediterráneo, poniendo en discusión el dato de la ‘centralidad’ ideológica y jurisdiccional del papado y de Roma respecto a la pars Orientis de la cristiandad que después de la fundación de Constantinopla tendrá una profunda influencia en la historia de Europa hasta el Cisma de Oriente.

    • Condiciones recuperación: Si el trabajo fuera calificado como suspenso, el alumno/a deberá volver a presentarlo, mejorándolo según las indicaciones del docente.

    • Observaciones: Se llevará a cabo Evaluación Continua. Para ello, los alumnos deberán asisitir al menos al 80% de las clases. La participación en las clases y la lectura y comentario de textos permitirá obtener la nota de 5. El resto de la nota, hasta 10, se obtendrá con la realización de un Trabajo, que será tutorizado y realizado a lo largo del curso.
